Kris' mother introduced her to the Science of Mind in 1974. Years later in 1980 her mother gifted her with the Foundation Class at the Huntington Beach Church of Religious Science under the ministry of Dr. Peggy Bassett. That was the beginning to a journey of enlightening unfoldment and learning that has not stopped. Rev. Dr. Kris became a Practitioner in 1986 after receiving clear Divine Direction at the Asilomar Conference in 1984 to take the Practitioner training. As a Practitioner she was an Assistant in Practitioner Training, created and taught workshops, volunteered in many areas and in 1988 joined the Huntington Beach staff in the Pastoral Care office. Again hearing the call at Asilomar in 1988 she entered Holmes Institute and became a licensed Minister in 1992.
As a Minister, Rev. Dr. Kris has served as an Assistant Minister in Burbank CRS and as Ecclesiastical Coordinator in the Growth, Education & Ministries (GEMs) Department of United Church of Religious Science, Home Office, where she was in charge of the licensing of Practitioners and Ministers and the creation of the current Practitioner I curriculum.
She became the Senior Minister at the Sanctuary for Spiritual Living, Covina, Ca. in 1996 and has enjoyed the experience of living in Spiritual Community with her congregation. The church had never had a Practitioner course taught in the center, so, her first work was to ready a class to enter Practitioner training. Her current congregation is now 30% Practitioners! Many of whom are teaching classes for her congregation.
Rev. Dr. Kris was privileged to create and facilitate the Wednesday Morning Meditation Experience at the United Church of Religious Science Asilomar Conference for 8 years. Through her selection of mystical readings, many experienced transforming insights. When Centers for Spiritual Living (in 2013) decided to discontinue the Asilomar conference she was asked to facilitate a private retreat. This July continues what has become known as the New Thought Spiritual Living Retreat at Asilomar! (All are welcomed!)
Rev. Dr. Kris was the first recipient of the Hazel Holmes Award for loving service to the Asilomar Conference and received the Vetura Papke Award for Outstanding Teacher. She received her earned Doctor of Divinity Degree from Emerson Institute in 2015.
Rev. Dr. Kris served on the Board of Directors for the Science of Mind Foundation for 10 years, where she started as the chair of the Policies and Procedures Committee and the Secretary of the Board. She was elected President of the Board in January, 2017 and completed her service after 3 years as President. She currently serves on the SOM Archives and Library Foundation Board, with the shared vision of both preserving New Thought history and insuring it’s availability to all interested people.
Rev. Dr. Kris states, "It continues to be my greatest honor and joy to teach people on the spiritual pathway. I want to live in Spiritual Community with Practitioners and Ministers and am willing to continue to learn from all I meet. I have dedicated my life to the transformation of consciousness through the principles of the Science of Mind."
